More Doctors?
Well, today started great, but it didn't end on the best note. I got a call this afternoon from our family doctor. Unfortunately, Emme needs to go back to the doctor's office tomorrow to have some blood taken. Every infant gets a battery of tests called a PKU done within the first two weeks of birth. They poke the baby's heel and send the blood off to analyze 40 or so different tests. Emme's test for thyroid productivity came back with some "funny" numbers, so we need to do the test again. We'll go first thing in the morning, but we probably won't hear the results until Monday. A few prayers or positive thoughts over the weekend would really help! False positives happen with this test and our doctor says that he's really not concerned about her levels right now because she is growing so well. Needless to say, I've done a little research already (the power of the internet!) this afternoon about hypo and hyper thyroidism in newborns. I really hope it's a false positive, but we will keep everyone posted about what we hear. Emme has just fallen asleep in my lap with a full belly and no matter what, she is absolutely perfect!!!
Love to all,
Kerry
