Park City, Utah - Saturday and Sunday

Image
So on to the big day. Saturday was absolutely perfect for a wedding. Andy, Addison, Emme, Grandma, Grandpa and I started the day walking around Park City and enjoying a good breakfast together. Addison really like the little honey bear and bench. After the great walk around downtown, we all headed back to the lodge and Addison was desperate to try the pool, so of course we went there. Now, Andy and I definitely wanted to help her have all the fun in the world, but we were also trying to wear her out so she would get a good nap and be ready for the wedding. The wedding was absolutely perfect. From the setting, to the couple, to the actual ceremony, everything pointed towards the beginning of something very special. Addison did a great job during the actual wedding. We even got her to go down the aisle and dump all of the flowers at the end! It was great. After the wedding, we had a wonderful reception on the patio where we all enjoyed a delicious meal and catching up with famil...

Park City, Utah - Thursday and Friday

Image
Whew! Andy and I are exhausted. We've had a whirlwind weekend of trave l and enjoying time with family in beautiful Park City. If you've never been to Utah, I definitely recommend it... even in the summer. It was wonderful to leave Austin at 97 degrees and enjoy time in the mid-70's as a high. Overall, our trip with two little ones was a great success. We left our house at 4:45 am on Thursday and both girls were absolute angels on the flight to SLC. We even had someone comment on how great they were, but most of the credit should go to my mom for entertaining Addison during the trip. Addison gets such a kick out of her Nana, even in a crushed airplane. Once we got to SLC and rented our mini-van we headed to meet Andy's family in Park City. By the way, I now totally understand why people buy minivans. Shhhhh... don't tell Andy I just wrote that... I would completely deny ever being in favor of mini-vans, but having the extra space was a definite bonus for t...

She Can Count?!?

Quick story... I told Addison she could watch one Hi-5 before naptime today. She looked at me, with my one finger held up, and told me, "no, two Hi-5," and held up two fingers. Watch out world, she definitely has a mind of her own. Kerry

Black Belts

Sorry for the delayed updates, but we've been very busy this weekend. I'm very proud to say that Andy and I have earned our black belts in toddlerhood this weekend. We'll post more this week about our adventures with Addison as a flower girl as soon as possible. Kerry

Cheese, Toast and Dippers

Image
Cheese: I caught Emerson with a little half smile. Toast: Addison discovered toast with Jelly. Thanks to Cassaundra and Ellis for the homemade grape jelly! Dippers: Addison keeps doing the craziest things. To begin with, she loves to dip her food in things. I haven't been brave enough to give her ketchup very often because of the mess, but ranch is a favorite in our house. Applesauce is also a favorite. So on to the cute/crazy things: when Addison was served her meal today of applesauce and grilled cheese (still on a modified BRAT diet due to her being sick), she promptly removed the spoon from the applesauce, picked up a piece of grilled cheese and dipped it in. She then proceeded to look at me like she had just discovered sliced bread! Too cute :-)

Icky... Shots!

Icky is one of Addison's favorite words. Today she woke up feeling "icky" and was running a fever. As luck would have it...ha ha ha... I already had a doctor's appointment for Emme. So we got a "two-fer" (two for one as they call it down here) and had the privilege of going to the doctor's office with both girls. Addison must be teething and that's what is causing her fever, runny nose, ear ache, etc. Nana Rose came to the rescue though and brought some new finger paints for Addison. Addison had a blast with them, but she also realized that she can "paint" with finger nail polish and enjoys doing that more than anything. Emme on the other hand is perfectly healthy. She weighs 10 lbs. 3 oz. now. As for the "icky" part for Emme, she had to get four shots today. With two shots in each leg, it's hard for her to get comfortable this evening and she's running a bit of a fever herself, but this should pass soon. Hopeful...

Weekend Updates

Image
Whew! We've been so busy this past week. It seems like every day we had new adventures, places to go and people to see, and through it all Emme and Addison have been troopers. I think we've taken them all over the city. Just in the past few days we've had to go to the vet to prepare Zeus for boarding, the doctor's office, hair appointments, and lots of shopping to prepare for our trip to Salt Lake City. I always forget how difficult it is to prepare to travel with a toddler and it's twice as much preparation now with a newborn. To top it off, Andy ended up traveling for work this past week, but we all survived. Andy and I even got out for a wonderful birthday dinner Saturday night. Perhaps the best part of the past week though was getting Emerson's pictures taken. I think if you click here , it should take you to the website where you can view all of the pictures. If anyone has any problems viewing them, just email me and I'll get you the link. And...

August Pictures are In

Image
We finally got the pictures in from our portrait sitting last week. Here are a few of the pictures. We hope you like them. I'll try to update the blog later this evening after Addison goes to bed with the link to all of the pictures so everyone can view them. Kerry

DYK...

Let's play the Did You Know game: DYK that Addison is absolutely in love with Hi-5 ? DYK that Emme has an angel’s kiss on her left eye ? DYK that Addison only likes to watch Hi-5 or Sesame Street and is only allowed one hour of tv a day? DYK that Scorpions are trying to take over our house, but I refuse to let them? DYK that Emme would rather sleep on her stomach, and gets upset when we keep putting her down on her back? DYK that Addison loves Emmy’s toes and nose? DYK that it’s raining again? DYK that Emme gets her professional pics today? DYK that Emme finally pooped after 7 days? DYK that Addison has never had fast food? DYK that Texas has major sales this weekend and I’m going shopping for the first time since Feb 05 when I bought maternity clothes for Addison's pregnancy?

Girly Girls

Image
I'm not trying to turn Addison into a girly girl... she's already a big tomboy... but I noticed that she is pretty interested in my lipstick and closet. Sooooo, I was at the grocery store last night by myself and took advantage to buy a few things. As a side note, I left Andy alone with both girls last night and I think he has a little bit more understanding of how difficult, yet wonderful, it can be with both girls. Andy's always been super-supportive and hands-on, but with me just being gone an hour and Emme being a bit fussy, it was nice to know that he was happy to see me come home :-) And though I was just as happy to come home, it was pretty heavenly to be at the grocery store by myself for an hour. Which brings me back to my story about girly things. Usually when I grocery shop, I either have one of the girls, or Andy is with me. Either way, I don't get to wander through the cosmetics aisle unless I need more sunscreen, toilet paper or q-tips. Last night,...

Again...

Okay, I was so proud of myself for posting a video... tee... hee. So, I've decided to post another one. This one is of Addison trying to kick her feet to swim. Emme has been smiling more and more, so maybe I'll get a good video of that here in the next few weeks. Kerry

Wadah - Wadah Everywhere

Image
Oh... so much fun! We went to the pool today with Addison and she actually went in the pool for the first time. It was so exciting to watch her be very hesitant and just wanting to observe everyone else at the beginning, to gradually wanting to go further into the pool and eventually, even trying to put her face in the water to blow bubbles with Daddy. I'm just so proud of her for trying something new. Just a few weeks ago, she wouldn't let me put even her feet in the water and here she is now wanting to go in the deep end. Here are a few pictures and a video (I hope it works!) for you to enjoy. Thanks to Wendy and Jerry O. for taking the pictures for us. They are fabulous... and I promise to post a link to the rest of them soon. Kerry

Word Explosion...

Image
So I just realized that I haven't updated about all of the visitors we've been having to Texas as well as all of the cute new things Addison has been saying. I should really video some of them to post here so you can hear how she says these things. Andy and I end up rolling on the floor laughing most of the time. For now, she likes to repeat everything anyone says, but here are some of her other new phrases: Make Zuu (Zeus) move ~ Or ~ Go Way! Want mo pa-ta (pasta) Go outside? Where baby? Stinky, icky and poopie are other fav's in the house. As for the visitors, we had such fun visiting with Aunt Micki and Uncle Eddie while they were here staying with our parents last week. Wendy and Jerry are here visiting from California as well, and we can't wait for my brother Matthew to come later this month. We also had some of Andy's friends come by with their little boy to help feed the deer. I'll get all of the pictures posted online as soon as I can so you can s...

It's Party Time...

Wohoooooooooooooo! I've printed out my Comps and I'm ready to turn it in tomorrow. 30 pages of work with 37 references to books and articles about educational reform. If anyone out there is interested in seeing how I would go about elementary school restructuring and redesign, email me and I'll send you a copy of my proposal. :-) So now it's time to party and celebrate. Not that celebration includes going downtown to 6th street and visiting Pete's Piano Bar to sing raunchy tunes anymore (ahhhh that was fun once upon a time, wasn't it Aunt Micki and Uncle Eddie???), but I may beg Andy to take me out to La Margarita's (great Tex-Mex) for my first post-pregnancy Mexican Martini. If you've never been to Texas and weren't motivated enough to come just to see our family's smiling faces, you DEFINITELY need to come for the Mexican Martinis!!! Cheers, Kerry

My new favorite...

This one is GREAT!

Jealous????

Image
Not that I'm jealous, but we all saw the fun Andy had with Addison this weekend. I thought I would post pictures of my fun. Tell me what you think... do I have reason to be jealous, or should I just make our family call me Dr. Mom when I'm through? The books are just a few of the ones I've been using for research and the bottom picture is a photo of my computer screen. K

Oooooooooo-K! (that's Addison's new favorite 'affirmative' statement), and what she said when we took off for this morning's adventures. started off with her new elmo shirt and pigtails in her hair (she only took them out twice this morning). We began our adventure by going out to the lake to check to make sure the boat was all the way up on the boat lift...we had some mechanical difficulties with the lift last weekend, and they fixed it last week. We are happy to report that all is operational again. Well, since we were at the lake anyhow, Addison and I had to walk ALL the way out to the end of the pier to see all the 'wadah' (water). From there, we headed downtown to the farmer's market to pick up some fresh produce. We also took this shot of the fountain in Republic Square in downtown Austin. From there, we strolled around town a little and took a photo with one of the Austin guitar sculptures before grabbing a sandwich for lunch and heading ...

Things I never want to say...

All of these were said in the past week! 1. Addison, please don't lick the diaper genie. 2. Zeus (the dog), don't sit on Addison's head. 3. Addison, don't let the dog sit on you. 4. Emme, please poop! ... more to come I'm sure! K
