So, it’s been a while since I posted, but with Kerry busy completing her 30 day comprehensive test, I guess I’ll jump back in and work to keep everyone entertained and updated. While she’s busy with said test, Addison and I are going to try to stay busy and out of the house to give Kerry a chance to work so we’re off seeking fun stuff to do. Hopefully that will keep us l oaded up with adventures to blog about. That said, here’s our start; this Sunday, our good friend B wanted to go boating, so Addison and I got up early and loaded into the car to meet B ad Denny’s for breakfast and the to go for a morning boat ride! This is technically Addison’s second boating adventure, but definitely the first where she’s aware of all that’s going on. Needless to say, she had a blast! She noted that there’s water on all four sides, and certainly enjoyed the wind in her hair when we were going fast. She’s was very taken with the whole adventure, and ha s added the word “boat” to he...

Wish us luck

I'm sitting here writing a blog with Emme squirming in my lap, even though I should be working on a paper for UT. That's right, I decided since life was going along so **easily** I should pick up my Written Comprehensive Exams from UT and start them. Basically, Comps are a final exam of our five core course and I have 30 days to write 30 pages. The topic is basically a three-year strategic plan for a school that is struggling. I picked up the paper last Wed. and I already have 8 pages written. I must say, they are pretty much 8 pages of cr@p, but hopefully I'll start putting together some good things. In the mean time, we have a great babysitter helping me out today with Addison, so I can write my paper... not this blog. Wish us luck that I'm able to finish on time, so Andy doesn't have to play single father at night for too long! There is no option to turn it in late, and I can't fail. The only way I can start my dissertation is to get a passing grade...

The little things...

It's the little things that make life so much easier. I was thinking this last night as Addison was throwing up on me for the fourth time around 10:00. Wouldn't it be so much easier to wash her off if she wasn't afraid of the shower? Baths just take too long to run, especially when you're running them more than once a night! In case you're wondering, no she's not "sick" we just think she ate something that didn't agree with her. Probably the whole can of carrots that she insisted on finishing. It's also the little things that make life so nice! Last night, before the episode with Addison, I was able to get out of the house and get to the gym for the first time in a while. Addison and I left Andy with Emme and a bottle, to get some quiet time together. I've been walking at night since we left the hospital, but I must say that I'm addicted to the gym and needed a fix. Before Emme was born, going to the gym was time for Addison an...

She must be smart...

She passed all of her tests!!! All of her thyroid tests showed that she is functioning at normal levels. We'll go back for her one month check-up and shots next week and I'll try to find out more information such as if she will need to get re-tested again in the future. Everything else here is just humming along. Kerry

Update

No baby should have to give blood for tests. Poor little Emme spent 2.5 hours with four different people, in a clinic and then a hospital, and got "stuck" five different times before they were able to get the sample they needed for her tests. They just couldn't get her little veins to cooperate. It's a good thing neither Andy nor I are squeamish. As a positive, we know that both of her tear ducts work :-) On a brighter note, Andy gave Emme her first bottle last night. We only gave her about an ounce and at first she was verrrrrrry upset to not be getting her food in its usual form. Andy was so patient and she eventually figured it out. Once she did, it was G-O-N-E.

More Doctors?

Well, today started great, but it didn't end on the best note. I got a call this afternoon from our family doctor. Unfortunately, Emme needs to go back to the doctor's office tomorrow to have some blood taken. Every infant gets a battery of tests called a PKU done within the first two weeks of birth. They poke the baby's heel and send the blood off to analyze 40 or so different tests. Emme's test for thyroid productivity came back with some "funny" numbers, so we need to do the test again. We'll go first thing in the morning, but we probably won't hear the results until Monday. A few prayers or positive thoughts over the weekend would really help! False positives happen with this test and our doctor says that he's really not concerned about her levels right now because she is growing so well. Needless to say, I've done a little research already (the power of the internet!) this afternoon about hypo and hyper thyroidism in newborns. I ...

Dell

I had the nicest lunch out with Emerson and Andy on Tuesday. If you remember, I was complaining Tuesday morning of being tired. After I decided to put my contacts in and wash my face, I told myself that I wasn't going to allow myself to be lazy, so I gave Andy a call and invited him to lunch. He was actually free (VERY unusual on short notice) so I packed Emme up in one of her cute outfits Grandma bought and we went to meet Andy's coworkers at Dell. Shame on me, but he has been in that office for quite some time now, and I've been meaning to visit, but this was the first time I've met a lot of his current colleagues. It was so great to finally put names and faces together. I'm always so surprised at how some people are exactly how I pictured them and some are so completely opposite. It makes me wonder how alike or opposite they think I am when people finally meet me?!?!?! Emme was quite the hit around the office... and of course she slept... but it was reall...

S-L-E-E-P and thanks

So, it's finally hit. I knew it would, but I was expecting it last week, so I'm happy that I lasted this long. Sleep deprivation is here and my brain is feeling a little bit like Mommy Mush. I'm completely functional in what I need to do, but little more seems to really be necessary. I can get up, get coffee, take care of the girls, but I really don't want to waste precious energy on making the bed. I make the bed every morning, but today, I just shut the door behind me as I left the bedroom. I'm secretly hoping to crawl back in at some point today! Emerson continues to want to eat about every two to three hours, even at night. Feeding her isn't really the problem, since I love seeing her little face any time of day, and she only eats about ten minutes at a time, it's actually falling back to sleep after I've left the bed that's difficult. It probably doesn't help that I woke up at 4 am with that distinct feeling of a sore throat coming o...

Weekend News

♫ Poop! There it is... ♫ remember that song?!?!? Well, that's all I'll say about that topic today. In other news, it seems like everyone is wanting more and more pictures. Andy and I took a few new ones today and you can see them at this website . We spent the morning taking the girls to a new housing development right down the street. We're all about "free entertainment" these days and since Addison is too young for the Home Depot craft sessions they do on the weekends and we can only go to the library so many times, we decided to check out the new condos they are putting in about five minutes from us. Addison had fun running around and Emme pretty much slept the whole time. Here is where we went . It's really a new style for Austin. We are pretty much a single family home city and townhomes/gardenhomes are just starting to gain popularity. Enjoy the new pictures.

Doctor's Appt. and Denny's

Emme went back to the doctor yesterday for her two week check up. She weighed 8.17 at birth, left the hospital at 7.11 and weighed in yesterday at 8.3. She has gained back all of her weight...yipppeeee. She is also measuring 21 inches. I'm thinking that the original measurement of 19 inches was off a bit. Two inches in two weeks seems like a lot! The doctor (we LOVE him) pronounced her absolutely beautiful and just thriving. Our only concern, and here's a little TMI (too much information, for those that don't know blogger lingo :0) if you don't want to read anymore) is that the little girl just doesn't poop! I never thought I would complain about not changing diapers, but a baby that doesn't go to the bathroom but every three or four days seems to be reason for concern in my book. Andy and the doctor aren't nearly as worried as I am since she isn't bothered one bit by it. She doesn't fuss, cry or seem upset and is gernerally just an easy-bre...

Just a funny...

Here's a funny... I get emails each week about my pregnancy. You know, the kind that are sent to tell you what to expect each week and how the baby is developing. Well, today I rec'd one that told me I was 40 weeks pregnant and would probably deliver my baby by the end of the week, but I shouldn't get discouraged if I go up to 42 weeks. So much for delivering two weeks early! I can't imagine not having Emme in my arms already. I would definitely be driving Andy C-R-A-Z-Y by now. As for Andy... Can I just brag for a second? He is definitely the most amazing and wonderful father and husband! We are settling in to our little routine, but the girlies are definitely going to miss him when he goes back to work next week. K

Tons of photos

This website has a ton of pictures from the week. Thanks for looking! Kerry

The First Week...

Image
Well, we've made it through the first week, and all I can say is thank goodness for grandparents. Andy's parents switched their plans for the week (Thanks Auntie Kate!) and came down from Indiana as soon as Emerson arrived. They were such a huge help during this first week as Andy and I began to figure out how to run a household with two children. Unfortunately, Addison got sent home sick from daycare on Tuesday and we had to call in backup in the form of Nana Rose and Boppa (Warren). Grandma Anne was gracious enough to take Addison to Nana's house with her 100 degree fever so Emme wouldn't be exposed to evil daycare germs :-) This week was also filled with firsts for Emme. We had our first walk in the double stroller(in between downpours of rain), our first trip to the Sprint store to replace my phone (someone else was definitely using it :-( and our first bath. Addison is still so gentle and sweet with Emme. She likes to "pet" Emme's mohawk (see t...

Allow us to introduce...

Emerson Annarose Moll. Yep, our Baby Girl 2.o is now Baby Emme. In keeping with Moll family tradition, her middle name is in honor of her wonderful grandmothers, Anne and Rose. Emme's third day of life is here and she is absolutely thriving. We came home on Sunday afternoon, enjoyed dinner with both grandparents, and then Emme and I had a long night with lots of eating and little sleeping. Kerry
