Emme is T-W-O

Image
Emme has really been showing her independence over the past few months. Control is a much bigger issue for her than it ever was for Addison. Whereas Addison would easily take a suggestion to clean the toy room or brush her teeth, Emme needs for those ideas to solely come from her (e.g. control the environment) or she becomes quite unhappy and refuses to comply with requests. From an educator/researcher perspective, it is quite fun to watch the differences between the two and try to figure out ways for both to be happy. From a parenting standpoint... it can be quite frustrating :-) Sleep is one thing that Emme truly loves to control. She likes to decide the when, the where, the why and the process that leads up to the sleeping. Superbowl was filled with lots of pictures, lots of friends, lots of heartbreak (poor Colts), and lots of fun! Huge hugs to Grandma and Grandpa for the shirts!!!

The little shop starts with a big girl shampoo (Emme was only a little hesitant at first and made me hold her hand), a super cute short cut in a pink jeep while watching Dora, and then it finishes with nail polish and a balloon. The end result was pretty cute as well!

Uncle Todd Visits

Oh, what a fun weekend!!! Uncle Todd came to Austin for a visit with Nana, Papa, us and the girls. We mostly just stayed close to the house (except for one ruinous attempt at going out to dinner - bygones) and enjoyed being with family. I'm not sure why I didn't take more pictures, but I do know that Todd took some great ones of the girls dressing up in their new outfits from Auntie Vivian!
