Balloons away!

Image
The local Hot Air Balloon Association does an annual "lift off" over the lake and we decided to get up SUPER early to go see it. Lift-off was at sunrise (6:52 am), so we had to leave at 6:00 to be there in time. It took place out at the damn and when we got there, many of the balloons were just filling up. It was a bit loud when they were filling up, so the girls stayed close to us. Overall, I think we were more impressed than the girls. The balloons were gorgeous sailing over the lake and we stopped at a local breakfast joint for b-fast burritos that the girls scarfed down! We took the long way home and Emme was so wiped out she kept putting her blanket over her head so the sun wouldn't keep her from sleeping. She also had a looooooong nap that afternoon!

Grandma and Grandpa come to visit!

Image
Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit this month and filled it with lots of exciting things. They went with Addison on her second field trip to a local park where the kids did a fun "dinosaur dig". Grandma also had "chef day" with the girls. Each girl got to pick out her favorite menu and make dinner one day. Addison made a rainbow dinner with foods of all colors and Emme made her favorite foods. The girls loved every second of it!!!

Addison's first field trip

Image
Addison was sooo excited to go on her first field trip. And even though I knew they were only going to the local library for story time, I have to admit I was a little nervous! So I cancelled some meetings, hopped in my car, and took pictures of the trip like any good "helicopter parent" would... I promise to stop doing this by the time she is 32. Admittedly, the trip was uneventful, but Addison felt like such a BIG girl starting her pre-K summer off to a great start! The day ended with a little pool time with Papa.

Dress UP

My goodness, but she likes to dress up!!!

Emme's 4th Birthday

Image
It was a really hot day to have a birthday party, but that didn't stop us from having a ton of fun. Emme had a Thomas the Train birthday party this year even though she's never seen it on tv and we've never read the books. I think she's been overly influenced by a boy named Colby at school. Nevertheless, we went with the train theme and had a great pinata and cake. Though it was a bit windy, and we had a hard time lighting the candles. Good thing Daddy was around with a blow torch. You know, you just never know when you're going to need the heavy stuff! The day was made that much more fun because Miss Neal, Emme's teacher, was able to come, and Aunt Minnie was in town as well. Emme loved jumping in the jump house we had. We let her stay up late and she jumped all. night. long.! It was such a great day of celebration! It might also have been the last day the girls wanted to dress alike... we shall see.

Dino Park

Image
We decided to go out to our local park that has cool dinosaur things. There's a "dino dig" where kids can excavate the buried bones and other dinosaur bones that are climbable. Such fun!!! It was a great way to spend a summer morning.

Emme says I look fabulous like this!

Nana's Root Beer

While we were visiting with Nana, Papa and Uncle Todd, Nana thought it would be funny to let Emme try her root beer. Thank goodness it didn't have caffeine in it... can you IMAGINE Emme with caffeine in her. That girl's "feet don't hit the floor" as Nana said last week! She really is a bundle full of energy. I didn't quite catch her gorgeous face after the root beer, but let's just say that she really liked it.

A day with Nana, Papa and Uncle Todd

Image
Last weekend, Uncle Todd was in town - which always means tons of fun! We spent the day at Nana and Papa's one day and spent another at our house in the pool.

Addison's Songs

Addison loves her school! But beyond that, Addison loves to come home and sing the cute little campy songs she learns. These are two of her favorite... and Emme loves to sing the turtle song as well.

Flying Kites

Image
This weekend was the perfect time to fly some kites. Addison and Daddy decided to make their own and as crafty as Daddy is and as great an artist as Addison is, the kite turned out amazing!

Bluebonnet Time

Image
We LOVE Central Texas in the springtime! There are wildflowers everywhere and Addison loves to pick them and give them as gifts. Every day at recess she picks the yellow dandelions and saves them in her pocket or hand to give to me hours later when I come to pick her up. Each evening, we go out to pick flowers for her to give to friends the next morning. And the best part is the fields of bluebonnets that pop up everywhere. We took the girls out to take pictures today, but in true Emme fashion, she refused to even get out of the car. At least Addison was able to see them and pick a few... and maybe I can get Emerson away by herself later this week for a few pictures.

Easter in Austin

Image
We had another wonderful day! Yesterday, we went to the farmer's market and picked up chocolate goat's milk, fresh pesto, vegetables, gulf shrimp and a seven steak for Easter dinner. On Easter, we spent the morning taking care of our flowers and birds and waiting for Nana, Papa and Aunt Shirley. We went egg hunting in bathing suites, had a lovely dinner and spent time in the pool, with the girls practicing holding their breath. We capped the night off with coloring eggs. Such a nice way to spend a weekend.
