Shoes!

Addison had a real problem with her shoes this past week. Of course, Andy and I think it is very funny, but Addy was pretty traumatized when she realized she had to give up her old shoes. You see, she outgrew her shoes a few weeks ago and I bought two new pairs for her to wear. She REALLY didn't want to wear them so I didn't force the issue, I just offered them every day. She always chose her old shoes. But, as shoes do, they finally became too tight for her little feet. You should have seen the D-R-A-M-A that happened when she realized one morning last week that her favorite shoes were not in their place. She only had her two new shoes to choose from and the tears started flowing. We tried rationalizing with her, we tried bargaining with her, we even tried to tell her that the Shoe Fairy came to take her old shoes away and give them to another little girl who didn't have shoes. Nothing worked!!! Andy even went to the store and bought a new pair of shoes that were EXACTLY the same as the old ones, just in the bigger size. Now, I know that Addison will not go to college still wearing that same style of shoe, but I wasn't ready to give up on the shoes. She begrudgingly agreed to wear the new pink shoes (after lots of tears) but refused to wear the brown ones. I finally showed her that Mommy and Daddy were wearing brown shoes and she thought that it was pretty cool to wear brown shoes also. We went out yesterday and someone just happened to say that she had cute shoes on. Wouldn't you know it... now she won't wear anything but the brown shoes.

Human nature, to embrace;
Allowing tears, on our face;
Retaining friends, with their lace.
