Summer Weekend Fun

Okay, so we're now an exhausted family of four, but that doesn't mean that we can't have a bit of fun. Weekends are great because it means two full days with Daddy to explore the city of Austin. On Saturday, we woke up and went downtown so I could return my books from Comps to the UT Library. It was a game day, so we decided to stay away from campus and went to the Whole Foods Market to browse around and try some new food. We stayed downtown for lunch where Emme enjoyed her bottle and Addison enjoyed my nectarine. There was also a pretty fountain (Wah-dah) that Addison was dying to jump into, but mean old Mommy refused.

After dinner on Saturday we went to the local park, but dangit... it is still just too hot outside, even at 6:30. According to our car thermometer, the outside temp was 93 degrees. We played on the swings, an Addison favorite, for a while and headed home with two wiped out girls.

You'll notice that Emme has found her thumb. It is definitely an obsession of hers these past few days and is too cute when she actually is able to get it in her mouth. She's still working on the coordination, but it is getting there.

On Sunday Andy took the girls to the grocery store while I spent a peaceful hour at the gym. This was a treat for me since the past few times I've gone to the gym I've had to cut my visit short when the loudspeaker paged me to pick up Addison either for a dirty diaper or because she missed me and was crying. Either way, I still love to take her to the gym with me for our special girl time, but it is nice to be able to tune out the loudspeaker while I'm on the elliptical every now and then.

Elmo and blankets have also become a big thing this weekend. Addison walked everywhere with a blanket, and especially likes to make tents out of them. She has also been tripping a lot over her blankets as she walks with them :-) It isn't unusual for her to walk around with her Elmo doll wrapped up in her blanket as well, similar to how we swaddle Emme. The Elmo she favors actually sings a little song and Andy and I just can't figure out why Elmo doesn't sing anymore. It can't be the little button on Elmo's back that has secretly been turned off. Addison has also learned to take on and off her little poncho that Wendy made for her. She is very proud of herself for being able to take her poncho off and I can tell the rest of her clothes aren't far behind.

Sunday evening we had a nice dinner and played a bit in the yard with our new sprinkler toy that we bought at Target. For anyone interested, they have all of their summer goodies on mega-sale right now! A special thanks to Krista for sending us a gift card for Target. We got Emme a great little bumbo seat. I can't wait to take pictures of her in it. We also made home-made cards for all of the grandparents for Grandparents Day. If you haven't wished your grandparents happy G-Day, do so now :-)

P.S. I usually don't go to YouTube, but this caught my attention. You've got to watch Bumbo and Bumbo II. TOO FUNNY!!!
