Park City, Utah - Thursday and Friday

Whew! Andy and I are exhausted. We've had a whirlwind weekend of travel and enjoying time with family in beautiful Park City. If you've never been to Utah, I definitely recommend it... even in the summer. It was wonderful to leave Austin at 97 degrees and enjoy time in the mid-70's as a high.

Overall, our trip with two little ones was a great success. We left our house at 4:45 am on Thursday and both girls were absolute angels on the flight to SLC. We even had someone comment on how great they were, but most of the credit should go to my mom for entertaining Addison during the trip. Addison gets such a kick out of her Nana, even in a crushed airplane.

Once we got to SLC and rented our mini-van we headed to meet Andy's family in Park City. By the way, I now totally understand why people buy minivans. Shhhhh... don't tell Andy I just wrote that... I would completely deny ever being in favor of mini-vans, but having the extra space was a definite bonus for the five of us traveling.

Where we stayed in Park City was absolutely gorgeous. The Stein Erikson Lodge is definitely someplace I would like to return. Thursday was spent just enjoying and reconnecting with family. Unfortunately, Addison got a little overtired (go figure with the 4 am wake-up) and refused to nap at all. Little Addy-Monster reared her head, but we really couldn't blame the poor little girl. On top of everything, she had developed a sinus infection, but we had Hi-5 close by at all times to at least encourage a little quiet time since she wouldn't nap. At least Emme napped all the time :-)

Friday morning we spent some time in Park City and went to a great park with James, Addison's cousin. It was also the rehearsal and dinner for Andy's brother's wedding. The setting was perfect as were the bride and groom. They are definitely a very special couple! Addison did great practicing going down the aisle, but then again, we also had special backup. To begin with, we drove around and around and around while she finally took a nap in the car early in the afternoon. It was well worth it since she woke up a bit happier after that. She was also more willing to go down the aisle once I told her that if she got to the end where Daddy was standing, he would give her a cookie. I'm not usually a proponent of bribing my children, but when it comes to creating a wonderful wedding environment or a complete spectacle, I highly recommend it! Addison gets a gold star for going down the aisle and getting a fig newton (a favorite).

I shouldn't write this last part, for fear of embarrassing Addison in the future, but it is still just too funny to not share. After the rehearsal, we all headed to the family dinner in town. It was a beautiful outside patio setting with lots of attention to detail on behalf of Andy's parents. Before dinner was served, a few words were spoken and then grace was said. During grace, when all were silent, I could tell Addison was... ummm... making a dirty diaper for her daddy. As we were all sitting there, quiet as could be, Addison looks at me, at Dan (the groom) and at Andy and whispers, "poopie, poopie!" It was all we could do to not bust out laughing. She knew enough to whisper, but not enough to not say anything at all. Ahhh, the joys of potty training!
