Sleep

Brennan has been such a funny sleeper. Andy and I joked that she slept away her first three months, sleeping nearly 9 hours the first night we brought her home and another 7 to 8 hours during the day. Neither of our other two EVER slept through the night until after 6 months, so we weren't sure what to do with her. Do we wake her to eat? Let her sleep? Normally, we would let her sleep, but given that she wasn't gaining as much weight as we would have liked in those first weeks, we did wake her up after 8 hours for a few weeks. She slept like that (up to 11 hours a night) for the first four months. We LOVED it, to say the least. But all good things must come to an end. Around 4 1/2 months, she started waking up to nurse a few times a night. She was still sleeping in our room at that point since she was such an easy sleeper. We didn't feel like we needed to move her since everyone was getting more than enough sleep! The waking up continued though. She got a little...

DISNEY (part 5)

On our last full day at DW, we headed to Animal Kingdom. I have to say, they had some awesome attractions, including a safari, and Addison's FAVORITE roller coaster - Everest.  But I do wish we would have spent some time going back to Epcot as well! Here are the girls playing on the carriages and with Papa waiting for the bus to AK. We got to AK early and Emme was ready for breakfast.  This pastry was as big as her ears!!! Both girls loved watching this gentleman from Africa carve animals out of wood.  I would have loved one of his sculptures! Here is Addison - super proud after riding on Everest for the first time.  She thought it was SO GREAT that she went on a huge coaster that went backwards! Here is Emme watching the elephants.  The safari we went on was really neat.  I don't think we've seen that many animals in a long time. At the end of the day, Brennan was ready to go straight to sleep... in Nana's bed!! 1...

DISNEY (part 4)

On Saturday, we were back at the Magic Kingdom.  Before we started out, Andy and I thought it would be fun to have the girls try trading pins.  Here they are trading their first pins in FrontierLand.  It was actually a really fun part of the trip from here out.  The girls were super interested in talking with people about pins from here out. The first ride of the day was the Log Ride.  Emme was still traumatized from the Tower of Terror, so she decided to ride very few coasters.  She stayed behind with Nana and Bren while we went on Splash Mountain.  Addison, of course, wanted to ride with Papa each time! Andy got stuck with me!  You can't see it, but he's only half smiling because I made him wear a big Birthday Button and he was annoyed ;-) that everyone kept telling him Happy Birthday!  Ha!! After riding a few other things and walking around, Emme thought it might be okay to ride a "mini-coaster" named Big Thunder Mountain....

DISNEY (part 3)

After spending the morning at the resort, we headed off to Hollywood Studios.  It was a fun afternoon, but most of the rides were definitely for older kids. Before the day even started, Addison ran in to Jake (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates).  He is her FAVE!!  She was so happy for the rest of the day. After Jake, we decided to go to Tower of Terror.  Mistake.  Big, Big, Mistake!!!!  Oh my gosh, I was terrified.  And So, So Sorry I took my 4 year old on it with me!!!  Emme just kept saying, "that was awful, Momma.  Really, really bad, Momma!"  I totally agreed with her. After that, we tried to keep it going with fun stuff and they did their first 3D ride on Star Wars.  The girls got a kick out of it, even if they didn't quite understand what Star Wars was! After that, we all went on a few more fun rides and enjoyed the park.  At the end of the evening, Andy and I got to go on the Rockin Roller Coaster. ...

DISNEY (part 2)

Day Three started out EARLY!  We had 7:30 reservations at Chef Mickey, so we left Nana and Papa to sleep in and we headed out for our next adventure.  Tons. Of. Fun. AGAIN!!  The girls loved dancing around and thought it was super cool that we let them have as much syrup and whipped cream on their pancakes and hot cocoa as they wanted! Here are the girls dancing around after breakfast. Donald was a definite favorite! But Goofy really got Emme's attention.  They were fast friends!! After breakfast, we decided to relax around the pool for a bit before heading to Hollywood Studios.  Addison got up the nerve to go down the super long water slide.  It was really cool to watch her do that!  Emme wasn't quite as brave, but loved spending time in the pool! After the pool, we all headed back to our rooms and the girls took a long nap.  They had been going so fast, they finally needed time to crash!!

DISNEY!!! (part 1)

I did it!!  I FINALLY did it!!  Not only did I convince Andy to go to Disneyworld, but I convinced Nana and Papa to come along with us.  AND, I actually booked the trip.  It was an absolutely perfect and memorable trip.  One that I don't think Addison or Emme will forget!  They were such troopers.  Our trip started on Thursday with an easy flight to Orlando.  Brennan slept the entire time and we got to our hotel in time to check-in, get settled, and notice that we could see Cinderella's castle from our balcony.  We boogied out of the hotel and went to Magic Kingdom.  We actually stayed on site at the Grand Floridian, which was such a perfect place for our first trip, so we were able to take the boat across the lake.  I think I was in awe more than the girls.  It is truly amazing!  Disney does such a great job with taking care of EVERYTHING! Here is Nana and Papa waiting for the launch of the boat to take us to MK! ...

Brennan's first food!

Image
At about 5 1/2 months, we thought B was ready to try some table food. We started with bananas and rice cereal. At first she wasn't so excited about it. Then she thought the spoon might be interesting... Not long after, she started to get the hang of it. Now, four weeks later, she still really doesn't love to eat. She'd much rather have a rice husk and feed herself than eat pureed foods. I'm thinking about giving her puffs sooner than later...
