Have you embraced the democratic process?

True Confession: I'm 33 years old and just wrote my US Senator for the first time. I've written other elected officials, but I plan to become more involved. Here is what I wrote Senator Cornyn (yes, the same Senator who also ridiculously blocked Senator Clinton's nomination for Sec. of State the day before the inauguration just out of spite and because he was acting as the GOP's personal hand puppet... but I digress):

Senator Cornyn,

I am writing to let you know that I am disappointed that you voted against the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. After doing comprehensive research on this, I can honestly say that I do not understand why you, along with 36 other Republican men, chose to not support this. I would like to know your specific reasons why you believe the residents of Texas would be better off without this bill and your stance on the Fair Pay Act, prohibiting employers from paying women and minorities less than others.

Respectfully,

Kerry Ann Moll

I'll keep you posted on the response. Now here's your homework, dear readers. Write your Senator, even if it to congratulate her (or him) on a job well done. Go ahead, embrace the democratic process. I promise you'll feel better ;-)
