Dunno!

Curious Mom at daycare: Hi Kerry!

Me (wearing jeans and a sweatshirt again ***blush***): Oh, Hi.

Curious Mom: What's on your agenda today?

Me: Dunno! ***blush again, for real***

Curious Mom: Oh, okay ***looking completely befuddled and fake searching for her keys to hide embarrassment.

Now, I know I should have helped the conversation along, but I was without much coffee this morning and Emme had a dirty diaper, and I really don't know how to answer the question...

..............What do you REALLY do?..............

I had two people ask me this just this week alone and I never know what to say. Usually it's just, "I'm a student." So here is what I REALLY do, or at least what I'm doing this week:

Monday: Drop Addison off at daycare sometime before 9:00. Intern at local school district from 9:30 - 2:00. Drive downtown (40 minutes) to conduct a focus group interview with elementary school teachers as part of my Research Consultant gig from 3 - 4:30. Drive home for dinner by 6:00. If I'm not interning on Monday's it is usually a day spent playing with Emme trying to get the house in order and sneaking in reading or research while she naps. Pick up Addison around 4:00.

Tuesday: Drop Addison off at daycare sometime before 9. Take care of Emme all day, grocery shop, laundry, bank, cook dinner. Pick Addison up from daycare around 4:00, come home for bath time. Tuesday night is a little different this week. We are going to a parenting class at Addison's daycare called "Terrific Twos".

Wednesday: Nana watches the girls. Drive up to drop the girls off at Nana's sometime around 9:00. Use the time while Nana takes care of Addison and Emerson to study, write and research for my three classes I'm enrolled in this semester. Pick the girls up around 2:00 to go home and play/cook dinner.

Thursday: Andy drops Addison off at daycare and Nana watches Emme. Go down to UT for the day to study and have a standing dissertation meeting at 2:30 with my Chair. 4:00 - 7:00 is class called Program Evaluation. 7:00 - 10:00 is Statistics. Drive home at 10:00. This week is a little different again. Instead of going to Statistics, I'm attending a local school board meeting as part of my internship. That meeting will probably last from 7:30 - 11:00 or possibly later. There's a full agenda. Papa usually picks Addison up from daycare on Thursdays around 3:00 or so and Andy comes home when he can to take care of the girls for the night.

Friday: A mish-mash of everything. Nana and Papa usually watch the girls while I study and do all of my homework, research and transcription of the interview that was done on Monday.

Andy and I both try really hard to not work at all on the weekends and sometimes we're successful and sometimes we're not, but weekends are for the most part spent with the girls.

So basically, I'm a full-time Mom/Wife/Student and Part-time Researcher/Intern. People don't really want to know that when they ask what I REALLY do, do they?!?!

Only 8 more weeks left and I won't have any more classes... woo hoo...
