My Christmas came early

Yipppeeeee! I just got a letter in the mail that said I passed both my Comps (the test I did when Emme was three weeks old) and my Specialization paper!!!! I'm really excited, and have been nervous because not everyone in my group passed, and this means that there are no more barriers between my dissertation and me. As a side note, I'm also excited about some research that I'll be doing next semester. I took a position as a research assistant through a grant that my dissertation chair is doing with a local district looking at high poverty schools and how they use data to improve student achievement.

My other early present is a new digital camera. I broke our last good one (seven months pregnant with Addison in 90 degree weather and a security guard tried to tell me to throw away my water... I showed him by throwing and breaking my camera!!) Anyway, I've been using a basic one for the past two years and it's decent, but I'm ready to start learning a little more about photography. It's not an SLR, but it has a lot of great features that I can't wait to figure out. I am beyond a novice with it, but it's one more fun thing to learn!

In family news, Emme is cutting teeth and has been absolutely miserable for three nights in a row. Addison is moving full force into the terrible two's which I love and hate at the same time. It is so great to see that she has such a passion for life and wants to explore everything, but sheesh! sometimes it is just time for a bath and dancing around in Mommy's shoes a little longer isn't an option. Oh yeah, and she's almost mastered jumping. It is so C-U-T-E how she tries to jump up to reach the airplanes, but doesn't quite yet have the coordination to get her feet off the ground.

With barriers, now behind;
New photos, to be primed;
Children's moments, seem well timed.
