Favorite Things

One of my favorite things to do with the girls is bake cookies. We make homemade chocoloate chip oatmeal, peanut butter, and sugar cookies quite often. Last week we decided to try out a new recipe... lemon zest sugar cookies with egg wash coloring. We had so much fun! The girls loved rolling out the dough and making little "girl" and "heart" shapes with the cookie cutters. But their favorite part was PAINTING COOKIES! Addison couldn't believe it. She asked, "Momma, are we REALLY going to paint cookies?" in somewhat disbelief. It took a bit of explaining for her to understand that she could EAT this "paint" :) Now, every day she asks when we can paint cookies again.

Addison discovered the magic of electricity this January! Her hair is getting so long and she loves to have it washed, blow dried, brushed and braided. But she also LOVES to see it spread out like this!

We've been sick...

December and January found our family pretty sick. It started out a few weeks before Christmas, as I wrote about earlier, with a basic cough. That cough turned in to croup, which turned in to borderline pneumonia and bronchitis... yuck! In the midst of that, the girls began to sleep in our room on the couch, which allows their chests/heads to be elevated, allowing them to breathe better than in there own room - and allow Mom and Dad to get to them easier when they awake 5,000 times a night! Though the girls have returned to sleeping in their own room and the sickness has left us, they still love the magic of our couch! Every chance they can, they try to nap on it. The only lingering problem is that Emme keeps falling off of it... and continues to sleep on the floor or cushions that are there to break the fall! Poor thing! As long as she's comfortable, right?!?

Happy New Year!

We spent the day enjoying time with the girls and celebrating the fact that Mom will be starting 2010 cancer free! It's been a long year including watching the girls grow from babies into little girls, finishing my doctorate, doing what we could to support Mom, and welcoming new cousins to the family. I know that doesn't cover all that has happened this year, but to celebrate 2010, we had silly string wars and noisemaker fights. That's the way it should be, right???

Christmas 2009

Just some of the many that make me smile from this holiday season. We'll post more soon!

Facebook Posts

Here are a few recent facebook posts about Emme... she keeps us on our toes! True story: Emme told me today, "I don't want Santa to come! I don't want to be good anymore." Emme stole our bed... Andy and I are still on the couch trying to figure out how we let that happen... and if it's worth it to wake a sleeping Emme-monster. Emme is playing fetch with herself... she is both the dog and the human... arf arf, she says.

Christmas Eve 2009

What a wonderful day! Even though Emme now has a case of bronchitis and an ear infection, we had a wonderful day of baking and celebrating. Addison, Emme and I made oreo cake and monkey muffins this evening, Daddy made creamed eggs for tomorrow, and we went for a yummy dinner of sushi with Papa. We also opened our new "no peeking" jammies. We've been following Santa and his trip on Norad, and the girls are quite excited about him coming! Here are a few pictures from the season that we hope you enjoy! ... our beautiful tree and girls ... Monkey muffins and cookies for Santa ... a trip to our big lighted oak tree in our town ... Addison was crying because she managed to fall two times in two minutes while trying to get into the big Santa sled.
